Teen Authors Workshop

When: Saturday, June 01, 2013 - 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Where: Eleanor E. Murphy Branch Library at Meeting Room

The Teen Authors Workshop is a writing workshop for teens ages 13 to 17 years who love to write or are interested in learning more about writing. During the workshop, teen writers will be introduced to the writing styles of poetry, newspaper writing, and short stories. Sessions will include icebreaker activities, free writing, progressive stories, team-building, read alouds, and group discussion. Beck McDowell, local author of the young adult novel This is Not a Drill, will also present during one workshop session. At the end of the workshop, participants will contribute their work to a published anthology. After the anthology is published, participants will be invited to do a public reading and book signing in the Fall.

The workshop will meet from 1pm-3pm at the Murphy Library, 7910 Charlotte Drive SW, Huntsville, AL 35802, on the following Saturdays: June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Participants are required to attend every session. This workshop is coordinated by graduate student, Kemi Olufiede, and is possible thanks to the generous support of the Murphy Friends of the Library.
