“Few history lessons are as entertaining as ‘Never a Bad Game,’ and few writers are as entertaining as Mark McCarter. This book is proof that the best stories are often found far away from the glare of the big-league spotlight.” – Sports Illustrated

An amazing book. Beautiful watercolors and sketches of birds interspersed with stories about them, by this very professional amateur ornithologist and bird rehabilitator. I think you have to get the actual book, not Kindle version, to appreciate the artwork.  HMCPL Catalog

Dear Killer
Author
Katherine Ewell
ISBN
9780062257802
Review
This book started with an interesting premise of a 17 year old serial killer trained by her mother. The now adult author wrote the book at age 17 herself, and unfortunately that shows. The idea that the girl is a "perfect killer" because she slaps on some latex gloves and kills with brute force is ludicrous. The author clearly did no research as there are still plenty of ways to leave behind evidence. There is no character development in the story whatsoever. Normally I'd be glad I can't relate to a serial killer of a main character but she is also entirely unbelievable. Then there's the unconvincing young male police officer who is inexplicably "in charge" of a high profile case. Into which the main character injects herself with ease. Who lets a 17 year old walk around a crime scene? Don't waste your time with this book when the library has so very many good ones.  HMCPL Catalog

This was a creepy and eerie thriller. I've tried the other two Gillian Flyn books, Gone Girl and Dark Places, but this is the only one I really made it through. Perhaps because I care more about the character? Whatever it was, this book was a great ride with a twisted ending. I loved it!  HMCPL Catalog
