This month we will be combining our Homeschool Hangouts and our Teen Homeschool Art Club for a special 2 hour creative extravaganza.

Homeschool Hangout is participating in the 5th Annual March Quilts community art project facilitated by Bib & Tucker Sew-Op, a Birmingham non-profit with the mission of cultivating sewing skills. Each year Bib & Tucker leads participants in the creation of a community made quilt centered around a social theme. No prior quilting skills are required, our teachers will walk homeschoolers through the process. Each homeschooler can use their imagination to design and create a quilt block to be incorporated into this year's community quilt.

This year's theme will be announced soon! Help Bib & Tucker reach their goal of 1,000 blocks this year!

Registration is required. Ages 5 through 18. To register, call our children's department at 439-5504 or our young adult department at 439-5512. Email Vanessa at nschildrenslibrarian@shelbycounty-al.org or Kate at nsyouth@shelbycounty-al.org

Glen Wills joins us again with an updated presentation, "200 years of Forgotten Alabama", in honor of Alabama's bicentennial.

Mr. Wills is currently working on his 3rd book in the series which will feature older structures from the early days of Alabama statehood. He will take us on a journey across Alabama as he documents the remnants of Alabama's past. What started as a chance encounter of noticing an old car along the highway and not having a camera became a mission.  Over the course of the last 10 years, he visited all of Alabama's 67 counties, logged 30,000 miles and took close to 15,000 photographs.

I like learning about different countries and this one was good but not my favorite.i did not like it because it was too political-based and not facts about the country's economy. but they were descriptive, and well-stated

This continuation of the She-Hulk story sees Jennifer Walters investigating a monster in New York City. This book continues the themes from the first one and includes a short story of fourth-wall breaking fun. I enjoyed this book a lot

This book is a biographical retelling of eight different founding fathers lives in an attempt to explain what made them different. I did not like this book as I found the author to be biased in presentation and interpretation of these men’s life. The book does contain some good information though.
